So You're a New Home-Business Owner?

If this is the first time you've tried on a home-based business by joining up with a network marketing company, you may be a little nervous. You might be wondering how you're going to actually fit your new business into your day-to-day life and how you're going to go about making money.

We've helped thousands of people take the step you've just taken, and we want to help you get started right. Being "your own boss" is a role that takes time, especially when you have a full or part-time job going on. You'll see yourself shifting between two hats in your new business ...the hat of a new owner, and the hat of your employer-self working for your boss-self. If you've become comfortable with being directed and told what to do and when on your job, it may be a challenge at first to motivate, direct and manage your own self. Remember that this is a business, not one of your hobbies (you tend to spend lots of money on hobbies, but now you want to create a flow of money coming IN, not out!).

So to build confidence and a foundation for a successful business, here are a few tips in developing that business-owner mindset:

1. Come up with a name for your new business. This will help you identify your "company" and give you a sense of ownership and uniqueness within the network marketing organization you've joined.

2. Purchase a calendar or planner to use for your business activities. On this calendar, clear 5-10 hours during the weeks and highlight them in yellow or other color as your "open for business" hours.

3. Make a commitment to yourself and to your business. A good exercise is to write a letter addressed to someone you care about and respect, and in the letter tell them the reason you are in this business and how your life has changed because of it. Open up your heart and go into details describing your life as if you are already living your success. Be sure to speak as if it's already here.

This little exercise will not only help you vividly picture what you want, it also reveals what makes your heart sing and puts you on the path to having and living the life of your dreams.

Dream on!
